Joaquin Joe Claussell 'The Ascension of Light & Wisdom'

$24.99

Those with good memories may remember Sacred Rhythm's late '90s and early 2000s sister label Natural Resource, which existed primarily as an outlet for founder Joaquin 'Joe' Clausell's "deeper, electronic soundscape" style productions. SORA, which debuts with this coloured vinyl 10", is its' replacement. Clausell is naturally in top form across both productions. A-side 'Subtle Light' is undeniably"gorgeous, with Clausell wrapping twinkling, sunset-friendly piano solos, shimmering synth strings and spacey electronics around a tactile, undulating dream house bassline and hybrid drum machine/hand percussion beats. On B-aside 'Peakaboo We See You', the long-serving NYC producer opts for a darker, more heads-down 'deep-tech' sound, adding raw, rough and menacing stabs, tribal style percussion hits and bold aural textures to a weighty, peak-time-ready house beat.
