Moodymann 'Silence In The Secret Garden'

$64.99

Originally released in 2003, Silence In The Secret Garden was the a pivotal debut for Detroit’s Moodymann. Though he's now notorious for his outfits, eclectic selections, Prince shrines and coteries of ladies accompanying him during interviews, Dixon's patent sound-schemes of dusty house, gospel, soul and jazz were then to be unscrolled like a yet undiscovered papyrus, causing a real stir indeed. Earlier EPs and singles than this were given to funk-laced sample flips, but it's this debut LP that set aside Moodymann as a real creative force in the world: shot glass tinkles, late night club night persiflage, and respect for the sample source are the rules of the game on the slow mahogany braises of 'LiveInLA 1998' and 'Backagainforthefirsttime?'.
