Black Motion 'Rainbows'
If you're brave enough to put out a one sided, one track 12" you better make sure it's good. Thankfully, Black Motion aka Robert Bongani Mohosana & Thabo Roy Mabogwane do that with 'Rainbow', a tune so lush that it fully deserves being presented in this way. It first came on a digital EP on Defected back in 2017 but sounds just as fresh today: the wavy drums are afro-tinged, pianos lave teasel in their wake and shakers and various other percussive sounds bring the groove to life. Of course, Xoli M's spine tingling vocal is what really brings the whole thing to life.
